It was in 1984, when Technology, Entertainment, and Design converged in a single conference. Since its inception, TED has now grown into a global community covering the majority of topics, from science to business to global issues, in more than 100 languages. TED is a nonprofit having the aim of spreading great ideas, usually in the form of short, impactful talks.
Operating with the spirit of “ideas worth spreading”, TED welcomes speakers from every domain and culture who seek a wider knowledge of the world around them. It believes that great ideas when shared widely have the power to alter attitudes, lives, and ultimately, the world. Every conference, talk, or project by TED is driven by the goal - “how can we best spread great ideas?”. Thousands of local and independently organized TEDx events are also held to share ideas, research, and breakthroughs in communities around the world.
