TEDx is a local, self-organized event that brings people together to share a TED-like experience. These events named TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event, bring the spirit of TED to local communities.
With the motto of TED, “ideas worth spreading”, this initiative encourages the sharing of speakers’ ideas with the local community. It grants free licenses to passionate individuals and institutions globally to organize TED-style events.
Live speakers, recorded TED Talks sessions and getting to hear about the exceeding research and ideas in one’s local area constitute a TEDx event. These talks spark a deep discussion and connection among the audience. Over 3000 events are now held annually, and selected talks are also turned into TED Talks videos.
When a person sets out to accomplish something that does not fall in the ‘conventional’ category for them, they not only shatter a stereotype for themselves, they pave the way for a thousand such disruptors and bring forth an incredible change. Leaving their comfort zones in times of a pandemic, unpredictability, and uncertainty, many outstanding individuals have come forward to serve the society. They are a living proof that one does not need to be ideal and stay within their domain to achieve something great. Often, it is this shifting from the exemplar that makes a fascinating impact.
This year, with the theme of “Breaking The Archetype”, TEDxGCET 2022 seeks to spread the brilliant ideas and stories of those who have gone out of their way to define new norms, usher in a new era, and have thus, broken the archetype!
